Okay, I brought pie, so please allow me to be a whiner.
This past week I lost my Instagram feed. Talk about things that make you want to cry. No, I’m not being dramatic. That’s 4,000 relationships gone overnight. Many of whom I will never get back and don’t even know where to begin, because many of them (and/or you) I know from handles like A19_jillsli. Therein lies the problem– off by one digit or letter and it might as well be like we never met.
Along with losing those relationships, I lost a year and a half of photo-journaling. For those that don’t utilize social media—I get that you may not get it. And the idea of chronicling what you deem as minutiae seems to be the height of self-absorbtion. And that carrying on a public conversation that can—just as easily and with less annoyance—be better served without the hashtag(s). Maybe, but like a lot of things, there’s a culture here #takeitorleaveit. For those of you who do use social media, you know what I am talking about—a conversation that may take place virtually is a conversation nonetheless.
Now if you know me then you know I’m truly a social media addict; Instagram being my favorite. Not surprising really since I’m visual and a photog hog. More than that, it’s the place where I’ve turned social media friends into actual friends, a place that allows for some layering beyond blogging and self- promotion. I love seeing the personal pictures of people’s family and the postings that connect me to the person behind the brand.
And that is why the note in the new feed said, “I feel like someone burnt down my home”. But like everything else in life. I’m rebuilding and so happy to see so many old friends and looking forward to meeting new friends.
If we connected before and you are trying to find my handle, it’s bakersroyale_naomi, or click on the icon up above on the right. Hope to see you all there soon!

How did it even happen? How can you just lose your feed? I’m sure it’s a really long story but maybe sharing just a smidgeon of it to prevent anyone else from going through it would be good. I am so sorry, Naomi!
The pie looks wonderful! I’m going to link it up to a post of mine about strawberry recipes I have going live in 20 minutes 🙂
I don’t blame you at all for whining; looking forward to how you’ll rebuild your feed (those peonies tonight were killer). I need this pie in my life!
Those glossy shiny strawberries are heaven! Adore the green background too.

My heart ached when I read your IG post about losing your feed. I’m so sorry. I can only imagine what it must feel like. I think the rest of us should take a moment to back up our feeds and maybe even print them out?
Love this pie 🙂
My hard drive blew up last Thursday and I lost absolutely EVERYTHING from 2011; pictures, bookmarks, files…so sad. I don’t understand how it is possible to lose your Instagram feed. That sounds so, so, terrible!!
Oh no!!! That is awful I am so sorry!!
I do love this pie though!! It is beautiful!
Oh no!! I don’t know what I’d do if I lost my feed! I’d probably drown my sorrows in this pie!

This pie pretty much made me chuckle/splutter out loud because it is so beautiful.
Oh no! So sorry about your Instagram feed… Just recently my camera card broke… 300 photos gone… So I know that hurts..
This pie looks amazing! Strawberry truffle combo is genius!
A beautiful pie & I am sooooo sorry about the Instagram disaster.

Wow, now that is an intense pie. Intensely awesome.

What a beautiful pie! I’m so sorry to hear about what happened. I hope a slice of this pie somewhat made things better 🙂
Amazing! Looks beautiful and sound delicious
This recipe looks so good — will definitely be making it soon!
I’m a little confused, though. The ingredients on your page call for 18 ounces of cream cheese … but the “click here for directions” page says a standard 8oz box.
Is it supposed to be 8oz?
Hi Natalie – That’s one 8oz of cream cheese not 18. I’ve corrected the recipe. Thanks for letting me know.
Wonderful! This pie looks SO yummy. 🙂
Love this pie 🙂 Wish there was some leftover so I could sneak a few slices from you on Sunday
Holy cow, this sounds/looks amazing!
Sorry about your instagram feed!
This pie looks lovely though. I could definitely go for a slice!
Such great picts! want to try this recipe ;p
Since when is a whipped cream layer optional? This pie looks fantastic! I can’t wait to try!
So sorry for you! Hope you can sort it out soon enough.
The pie looks out of this world!
The pie looks delicious! Silky smooth, and decadent. Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear about your INSTA Naomi. I’m a happy follower like always. Cheers, Jo
This pie looks delicious. Do you mind sharing how you did the whipped cream layer? Is it whipped cream from a store-bought can, or is it homemade? If homemade, did you add some sort of stablilizer?
No wonder I felt a huge void in Instagram lately!! I will find you and reconnect soon. You should do a social experiment to see how quickly it takes you to get back to where you were. Hopefully better and stronger, like the bionic blogger!
So sorry to hear about your loss 🙁 That really blows.
This pie… well I know I would certainly drown any sorrows in a slice or five.
Ah, that’s absolutely devastating! At least you have something to look forward to though! 🙂 🙂

This looks so delish! I love the chocolate with strawberries.
Cannot believe you lost your Instagrammers! I was one of them too (found you that way–have never been to this site til now!) So because of that, I totally believe and understand your plight of having lost all of those people! I gotta find you again. And I need to come back to this site again too!!
Naomi, just started with Bloglovin as a reader and had to comment on this post after reading your sadder than sad tweet when this disaster descended. My hope is that you are back up and running. And, that your old followers will miss you and link back up via visiting your blog. (I’m sure they will miss you!) Plus, you will surely gain new friends along the way. If you have learned anything about preventing this, like back-up procedures, perhaps you can share a post about it? Cannot imagine how you feel about the loss of all those pics! Well, I can come close to imagining…my father tossed out a large basket of photos my mother was sorting to put into new albums. She cried for years, “My babies!” They were infant and toddler photos of all of her kids. Shame on dad! And, shame on that dang s.n.a.f.u. that happened to you!
