Chocolate Whopper Cake

June 10, 2013 By Naomi Robinson | Bakers Royale 34 Comments

So I’m a little predictable—it doesn’t matter that I’ve made over a dozen different types of chocolate cake, I’m always ready to take on a recipe I’ve never tried. The Whopper cake is comprised from two Better Homes and Gardens recipe. Chocolate Whopper Cake via Bakers Royale

The first recipe calls for a malt frosting finish, but I skipped that for a richer chocolate taste, so I used their traditional chocolate ganache and then rimmed the side of the cake with crushed Whoppers for the malt flavoring.

Like most BHG recipes, this one is highly adaptable.  If Whoppers aren’t your thing, make it your own by crushing up your favorite candy for the rimming.

To get started click here for the recipe.

As always, if I can please ask you guys–if you are going to pin any of the images please do so from Better Homes and Gardens and not here, since the recipes reside over there. Thanks!

What a gorgeous cake and I bet the malt/Whopper flavor is so good! I haven’t had them in ages. Need to change that.

And your flowered plate is just so pretty, Naomi!

Whoopers own my heart. The malty goodness against the milk chocolate brings me back to childhood.
I remember I made a swirl roll using the malt powder in the sponge and crushed whooper creme for the filling but it does not look as good as this does!

I LOVE Whoppers! I bet it’s fun to crush them and use on the sides of the cake as a decoration! Plus the chocolate ganache is the perfect frosting! Pinning!

Timely recipe! We’re getting ready to move and I’m trying to use up all the candies and such for cake and cookie decorating. So… I have Whoppers on hand, eager to try this! Now I need to find a good use for Starbursts and Lemonheads. Those are kinda tricky.

Oh, how I adore chocolate cake and also rimming layer cakes with chopped goodies. (Just did a Key Lime Margarita Cheesecake Cake and rimmed it with a toasted Coconut-Mac Nut Graham Cracker Crunch. Mmmm!) LOVE this Whoppers concept cake, Naomi!

This looks so yummy! I could eat the whole thing if it were possible especially in one sitting. I can’t though but would settle for a nice thin slice as that is all I could eat.

Such an awesome idea to crush up your favorite candy bar and use it to decorate a cake! I’m totally going to do that, though I’m not sure how a Mound bar will do (I love Mounds)

This was lovely for about four hours until the Whoppers got soggy. Ick! I baked Hershey’s Perfect Chocolate Cake and Frosting and decorated with the chopped Whoppers. Delicious. Who cares what it looks like?
